Dear Sixth Grade Parents,

For returning and new sixth grade students interested in band, we will start our first band for Edwin Loe Elementary School’s first band meeting on September 1st on Microsoft TEAMS at 3 pm for a half hour with Mrs. Reece, the high school band director.  I met Mrs. Reece and she is very nice and a capable band teacher.  I have an added class this year with the addition of sixth grade.  Please contact you school’s classroom teacher if your youth wants to be in the band.

If you have a musical instrument already, that’s great.  If your student is interested in band, and needs an instrument, Eckroth Music does have a rent and a rent to own program.  If you do rent or buy an instrument from them, Mr. Jacobsen, the manager, will deliver them to the school free of charge.  Their website is:   www.eckroth.com.  When you visit the website, there is a “Rent Online’ tab on the horizontal bar at the top of their page.  Eckroth Music in Minot store phone number is 701.838.8709

Additionally, we do have a variety of some school instruments available for students: trombones, trumpets, saxophones, clarinets, flutes, and percussion.  Please let your classroom teacher know as soon as possible about joining band, and the instrument you want to play.  Returning students will be allowed to rent the same school instrument as last year and pick them up Thursday, September 3 from 5-8 pm.  The annual rental fee for the school instruments is $40.  You may pay that night of pickup, September 3 if you are able.  If the parents are unable to attend the TEAMS Band meeting on September 1 at 3 p.m. to register for band, please send me an email at barbara.gilbertson1@k12.nd.us.  Pick up of school band instruments will occur here at ELES southeast doors, September 3rd at 5-8 pm.

Our instructional plan while we are distance learning will be from 3 to 3:40 pm:  Monday - Flute players, Tuesday – Clarinet, Wednesday Saxophones, Thursday Trombones and Trumpets, Friday – Percussion.  Students will learn the basics by tuning in on computer to Mrs. Reese to receive direct instruction and given links to high quality training videos as well.  Students will be shown proper practice habits and given personal attention to help them carefully.  We welcome any questions you may have as we start our young band players.

Go Eagles!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Gilbertson, Mrs. Donna Reese,  ELES Music
