October 11, 2024 Dear Parents and Guardians, As most of you remember we made the school's new cellphone policy very clear from the first day of the school. We knew things would change once the Yondr pouches arrived. They are here and ready for student use. In the bottom part of this letter is the Yondr pouch procedures and policy. The students will be able to keep their pouch with them. Yondr Pouch Policy • 1st hour teachers will have assigned pouches that are numbered, and color coded for easy tracking. • Students will have assigned numbers. • Tardy students will use "office pouches". If a student is tardy, they will lock their phone in a pouch they grab from the office that day so as to not disrupt a class they are not going to. • At the end of the day, they will need to return this pouch to the office. • Teachers should check for damages or losses for prompt reports to the office. • A phone call home will be made to let parents know that a pouch is lost or damaged. • The replacement cost for a damaged or lost Yonder Pouch is $50.00 • For students who lose or damage their pouches, they are to automatically turn their phones into the office (at least until the replacements arrive or the fee has been paid). • Any Bluetooth device such as headphones or a smart watch that connect to a phone need to be collected. NEWS RELEASE NEW TOWN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 ANNUAL INDIAN PARENT INPUT MEETING SCHEDULED The New Town Public School District Board of Education will be conducting its annual parent input meeting at the New Town High School cafeteria on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 5:30 pm. A meal will be served. The annual meeting is held in accordance with Federal regulations connected to the Federal Impact Aid Program. Under Section 8003 of Impact Aid, the district receives federal funds in lieu of taxes for lands taken off the tax rolls. Funding is provided for students living on Indian Trust Lands, and some funding for students whose parents work on Indian Trust Property Lands but live off such property. The district receives approximately 11 percent of its total revenues from this source. The purpose of the annual parent input meeting is primarily to ensure parents that Native American students are allowed to participate in every program and aspect of the school district, including extra-curricular activities. Parents are also allowed to provide input into the general K-12 programs of the school district. The New Town Public School District Tribal Consultation Plan required under the new education law, “Every Student Succeeds Act” will also be presented. The plan was approved by the MHA Nation on May 21, 2024. The school board and administration will listen to parents throughout the year, but this special board meeting is for the specific purpose of hearing their input.

You will learn about our school goals, how we plan on achieving these goal, and answer any questions families may have.

This is a friendly reminder that the Senior Class Indian Taco sale is tonight starting at 5 pm until they run out in the HS gym lobby. All plates will be served in a to-go plate for $10 which includes the taco, a drink and a dessert.

We have distributed all of the pre-ordered yearbooks and have only 30 yearbooks remaining. They can be purchased in the business office for $40. First-come, first-served, no holds.

The Senior Class of 2025 will be having an Indian Taco Sale on September 30, 2024 from 5 pm until gone. The sale will be held at the NTHS Gym Concession Stand. All plates will be served in to-go containers. The plates will include: Indian Taco, dessert, and a drink. All proceeds will go to the Class of 2025.
