From Interim Superintendent Marc Bluestone: A soft lockdown was held at the elementary school this morning. A student had distributed marijuana laced gummy bears to several classmates. After a complete search of the school, additional gummy bears were found. We are asking parents to be on the lookout for gummy bears especially if they were not in a manufactured package. These gummy bears were found in Ziploc baggies. Two arrests were made. The students and staff are safe.
Thank you to the MHA Nation Law Enforcement Department, the MHA Division of Drug Enforcement, and the City of New Town Police for their assistance and for their quick and thorough response to this unfortunate situation.

From Marc Bluestone, Interim Superintendent:
As you are probably aware, a lockdown was held at the high school today. A school staff member found a magazine with live ammunition rounds in a girl's bathroom in the high school. The SRO's (School Resource Officers) were notified, and lockdown protocols were initiated. the New town Police Department and MHA Nation Law Enforcement responded to assist. The high school was thoroughly searched including lockers and classrooms by the MHA Nation Canine Unit. One knife was found along with several vapes. No additional weapons of any kind were found.
All students and staff were safe, unharmed, and accounted for. In addition, students were fed in the classrooms and were escorted as necessary to the bathrooms throughout the lockdown.
A big thank you to MHA Law Enforcement and New Town City Police for their quick and thorough response to this unfortunate situation.
