NEWS RELEASE NEW TOWN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 ANNUAL INDIAN PARENT INPUT MEETING SCHEDULED The New Town Public School District Board of Education will be conducting its annual parent input meeting at the New Town High School cafeteria on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 5:30 pm. A meal will be served. The annual meeting is held in accordance with Federal regulations connected to the Federal Impact Aid Program. Under Section 8003 of Impact Aid, the district receives federal funds in lieu of taxes for lands taken off the tax rolls. Funding is provided for students living on Indian Trust Lands, and some funding for students whose parents work on Indian Trust Property Lands but live off such property. The district receives approximately 9 percent of its total revenues from this source. The purpose of the annual parent input meeting is primarily to ensure parents that Native American students are allowed to participate in every program and aspect of the school district, including extra-curricular activities. Parents are also allowed to provide input into the general K-12 programs of the school district. The New Town Public School District Tribal Consultation Plan required under the new education law, “Every Student Succeeds Act” will also be presented. The plan was approved by the MHA Nation on May 22, 2023. The school district is contemplating the name change of the elementary school. It will be seeking input on changing the name from the Edwin Loe Elementary School to the New Town Elementary School. The school board and administration will listen to parents throughout the year, but this special board meeting is for the specific purpose of hearing their input.

Jostens will be at NTHS on September 11, 2023 during lunch to size students for letterman jackets. If your child is interested in ordering a jacket, this is the time. Go Eagles!

NW CONFERENCE was held at DLB. Congratulations to Alyssa Haakenson that placed 6th (tied) and Savannah Whitman placed 5th. The New Town /Parshall team placed 6th as a team. Go Eagles!

Please note: The volleyball game on September 15 that was scheduled as an away game will now be played at home. In addition, on October 2, the VB game will now be played in Plaza.

The New Town Public School buses that pickup students west of the city may be running late this morning to pick up students as there is an incident slowing traffic on Highway 23 west of New Town. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
